Gary Alan Smith

In addition to his position with Abingdon Press at The United Methodist Publishing House, Gary served as editorial manager of The United Methodist Hymnal project, and managing editor of The Faith We Sing and project manager for Worship & Song. He has served churches in music ministries over the past 35 years, and is currently Director of Music Ministries at Donelson Heights United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Gary was named Project Director and Co-Editor of the Hymnal Revision Project for the 1989 United Methodist Hymnal.

Anne Hook
Music Editor

Anne Hook has been Minister of Music for Christ United Methodist Church since early 2000. Her main ministry focus is to create worship experiences in which people experience the Living Christ in powerful ways and to lead music ministry programs that nurture and send people out into the world to be disciples for Christ. Anne was formerly director of music resources at the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church. She is an ordained deacon in the Memphis Annual Conference with masters degrees from Perkins School of Theology of Southern Methodist University in sacred music and choral conducting. She was one of the contributing editors for the hymnal The Faith We Sing and is also the author of two books and numerous articles on various aspects of music ministry.
Dean McIntyre
Worship Resources Editor

Dean B. McIntyre is the Director of Music Resources in the Center for Worship Resourcing at The United Methodist General Board of Discipleship in Nashville. He is active in developing and promoting music resources for use in The UMC, as well as speaking and leading workshops on a variety of worship and music related topics. McIntyre chaired the General Conference Music and Worship Study (2004-2007) and was named co-editor of the United Methodist Hymnal Revision Project. He is on the editorial team for the new joint GBOD-UMPH Worship & Song worship and songbook project, editing the worship resources volume, and leading the national introductory event in March 2011. McIntyre is a composer, arranger, and author, major contributor to the GBOD worship and music website, and moderator of The United Methodist Musicians’ Listserv and Ruach List. He has a bachelor’s degree in organ performance, a master’s degree in post-secondary music education, and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts, is a member of ASCAP and a Life Member of The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts. He is the compiler of A Reference  Companion to The United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing and Hymns for the Revised Common Lectionary.
 

Bob MacKendree
Music Consultant and Business Manager

Bob has served at The United Methodist Publishing House in the publishing area since 2000 and has been on the editorial boards for Zion Still Sings and Worship & Song. He has served churches in music ministry for 30 years, and has been Music Director at Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Gallatin, TN since 1996. In 2007, his local church inaugurated contemporary music worship services to accompany the existing traditional/blended worship. Bob earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, GA and his MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. Bob will be responsible for the Cokesbury store during the Rethinking Worship & Song launch event March 1-3, 2011 in Nashville.

Jackson Henry
Music and Worship Consultant

Jackson W. Henry is the Director of Music & Worship at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN and also Adjunct Accompanist on the Keyboard Faculty of the MTSU School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University. He is a graduate of the Master of Sacred Music program at Perkins School of Theology/Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University. Jackson is a member of the editorial team for Worship & Song as well as musical arranger and contributor.
